Default alternator change on x51?

On my 40th anniversary, I got to the step where you rotate the alternator clockwise to clear the "mounting eye" and then pull it back to remove. Well I can hardly rotate it before the top of the alternator hits the bottom of the intake manifold.

Please tell me that cars with x51 intakes don't have to remove the intake manifold just to replace the alternator.

I did this job on a non-x51 so your results may vary, but I seem to remember having to lower it and rotate it clear everything. It required some muscle and cursing to get it to come out. Going in was much easier.

False alarm. More hammer was required to get the side that has the pulley to move. Got it out.

That'll teach it. I'm sure the rest of the car was paying attention and wont give you any trouble now.
