cabrio question...
how many of you cabrio owners, and i dont mean to offend, have had your car called a boxster?
iv always wondered how many ppl ask that... |
Never...I've been asked "why does it say Carrera 4 instead of 911" like a million times.
|
Never been asked that one... Most people are confused on the year though... Mine is an 03 and most folks think it is virtually new!

Kinda funny. |
Had it happen a couple of times but I take no offense to it. Most people know crap about cars so for them to distinguish between two models that look pretty similar isn't a bad thing.
Now when I had my 944 Cabrio someone once asked me, "Hey is this one of those new RX-7s?"...Ugh! |
thats easy tio fix..... next guy/gal to ask just scream back
IT'S NOT A F*&KING BOXSTER YOU F@#KING MORON !! :D |
For me, no-one has asked that question yet, but I don't mind if someone did, With the stock bumper, my front could be taken for a Boxster but now with the GT3 bumper, it should be more distinguishable, I hope... As others have said, I am happy if people can correctly recognize my car as a Porsche and not some other brand, heh heh.

No one has ever called my car a boxster, but I have a hard time telling from a quick front look.

I was driving to lunch with an intern in my Porsche. We were at a light and he sneered at an early Boxster - something like "fake Porsche / hairdresser's car". I snapped at him and asked him where he got off being such an elitist prick. I reminded him he drove a Corolla "S" and if he sneered at Toyota Yaris' at the light.
That type of attitude - no matter what you drive - I'll never understand. Which is why I get so perplexed at the horrible attitude some of the "air cooled" and 997 folks have. Maybe it's true what they say - the difference between a porcupine and a porsche is that the pricks are on the outside on a porcupine. |
its not that i dont like boxsters cause i do, actually almost bought one till i found out i could afford the 911, but thats beside the point. i agree with you, that was a prick comment for him. i daily drive a 1998 jetta, who cares what you drive as long as you enjoy it! i was just wondering if cabrio ppl get that comment alot as they do look very similar with the tops dropped.
|
when I first got the 03 cab I was at a barbecue at a friends house he has a 66 911 and 74 914. His wife came and said "I really like your new car." "Is it a Boxster?"
I just said no it looks like one but it is a 911/996. The easiest way to tell is no visable roll bars and the back seats. She said she still liked it even though it wasn't a Boxster. |
I was once asked if my coupe has "that v4" engine in it :)

My brother-in-law asked if it was a Boxster, but that was because he's jealous.
