Default 997 stereo into a 996? Possible?

Has anyone fitted the head deck from the 997 into a 996? Can this be done?

The only creature comfort I am really missing is my aftermarket deck with bluetooth cel phone integration and ipod/iphone controls.

Since there is no PCM tied to my stereo I can probably just replace it with an aftermarket unit without voiding my warranty right?

Alternatively, anyone mount those permanent FM transmitter units? The ones that connect between the deck and the antenna?

997 radio would be a challange...

To replace the head unit in an 04 you will also need to replace the amp and rewire due to the MOST bus.
Do a search, plenty of info here.

Maybe he wants to hear more current music. He is probably getting tired of hearing songs from 2000 - 2004.

Well, I'm under the impression...possibly incorrectly...that the 997 deck has bluetooth integration, no? So I have handsfree with my phone and still have the Porsche system. I would have thought the two decks would use a similar wiring harness, simplifying the whole process but I guess not.

(I like the output...so I want to change *just* the deck)

I did do a search, I didn't find anything.

I guess I'll just buy an aftermarket system.

I added the aux cable to my stock CDR 220 in my 2001 996. It allows me to run XM radio or IPOD with a clear output. It came with a phone line as well which I did not install.

the last time i shopped new 997s hard enough to know the specs on the stereo was 2007 and there was no factory bluetooth integration or upgrade to my knowledge. i added it using the motorola t605 kit and the becker aux/phone cable. parrot also makes a good solution.
