Default Low fuel light

When my 996 has low gas, a little orange light comes on.

When my Benz gets low, a light comes one as well. But if you keep driving - this shows up. Too funny!

I sort of like how polite the 996 is when you need gas... i don't remember exactly what it says, but something like "Please consider the range on your remaining fuel".

The Cayenne makes a loud beep that scares me every time, and then displays a large yellow "!". It's not nearly as polite.

Would be kind of nice for the computer to track range when entering those long stretchs like deserts and mountains and a gas station is way out there before near empty. That's probably already done too
Hmmm nearest bars and massage parlors........never go there but I've seen the sisters gps and all of its bells and whistles menus. Unreal the gps stuff offers.

My saab....the gas light goes on and when its around 20mi left for the range it yells at you and says REFILL FUEL NOW.

This was also a bit un-nerving to see this as you get in the car to drive home.

Cool

My low fuel warning light comes on when there is still almost four gallons left in the tank. Usually the distance to empty reads about about 45-50 miles. If I am on the highway averaging about 28.5 miles per gallon, then with the actual gas remaining I could theoretically drive almost another two hours.

I haven't had the gonads to test out the theory that there is actually around a hundred miles left in the tank. I never want to drive around with a two gallon gas can full of fuel inside the car to drive until it quits.

And there have been threads posted that driving to empty is not good for the engine for many reasons (junk floating in the bottom of the tank that never gets picked up unless you drive to empty, dry fuel pump and injectors, lean mixture on valves and pistons, safety of rolling along dead on the highway at 60 miles an hour (power steering - brakes), O2 sensors lighting off, etc. etc.

There have also been a couple threads on resetting the gas tank float measure for C4's with the split tanks. Anything on C2's?

Scariest beep I ever got from a car was from my 02 VW Golf TDi when the darn windshield washer tank level got low. What an alarm. Geesh.

Sincerely,

Macster.
