Anyone know if our 996EA cars respond well to ECU tune?

Experience?

Watch out for tunes that include jacking up the throttle response. Mine had this and the acceleration was amazing to me when I took a pre-purchase test drive. After purchase I literally stalled it at least once a day and this really shook my confidence as I considered myself a clutch master (I have actually driven a mid 80's F1 car on the streets of Santa Ana). I suspected a trick tune and had my indy dump and reflash? with the factory Anni. program (directly downloaded from the factory) and the car was much, much better behaved though it lost some of it's ferocious acceleration. I've only stalled it once in the last 4 years.

Cheers, Paul

I know it's humid there, but look at those brakes. They must park it here and rarely drive it.

The car has been sitting and not driven for several years. The sun has really did a job on the paint!

I wonder what shape the engine is in. What a shame.

Hi all,

I purchased #1009 a few months ago (bought in Colorado). I've put a quick 6k miles on it, as it now sits at 49,xxx miles. This car was someone's toy, but it doesn't appear to be a track toy. More of a street racer/boulevard presence toy. Some things that were done:
  • VF Engineering supercharger
  • 5-spoke black, Porsche wheels
  • Smoked side markers and tail lights
  • Tinted windows
  • Lowered suspension (type to be determined)
  • Double din stereo conversion with backup camera
  • Custom subwoofer on rear deck
  • Radar jammer
This car is in pretty nice shape. I've removed half of the radar jammer (need to remove the front bumper cover to get the rest), replaced the driver door latch to get the window drop to work properly, replaced the battery, and bought a set of winter wheels and tires. I need to get the nose (and maybe more) wrapped with a clear bra before I ruin the clean paint even more than I have. Beyond that, I'm going to change out one of the O2 sensors (occasional CEL on bank 1, pre-cat), change the oil, finish removing the radar jammer, and determine what kind of suspension this thing is sitting on.

Anyway, I don't see that this car has ever been listed in the registry (I didn't read all 88 posts though). Thought I'd get it listed.

Your car is in the registry which is maintained in PDF form by @TAZ40JAHRE here: https://www.40jahre911.com/the-registry-car-lists and actual PDF here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rd1ptgjq2...HMkLmycryk9pfa

I believe that car is pretty well known and def has a history on the official registry. A supercharged 40th, enjoy it, I'm sure it's a rocket!

Yep. I bought it from him. Found it on this website. It's got some serious ***** with the supercharger on it, but it still cruises nicely. Makes for some exciting freeway on-ramps! May take it to Mid-Ohio this summer to see what it can do during an HPDE weekend. I haven't been on the track in years though and never with anything this powerful.

I'm jealous of that supercharger.
