Great to have you aboard, guys. Three terrific cars. When you have a moment please shoot me an email at 40jahre911@gmail.com so that I can get a few details for the Registry car list. This thread is wonderful - when you have time please go back through as much of it as you can and you'll learn a ton about our wonderful cars. Also visit the Registry website and social media pages (FB, IG and Twitter). Tons of helpful stuff there, too. The links are in my signature below.

Sort of an odd question but where is the manual control switch for the rear spoiler on your cars? I have been reading that it is up by the radio bezel, yet mine is on the kick panel fuse box by my left foot.
I was curious if these switches get moved around depending upon options of if there is something more to it.
Just curious...

996 location is as you found...on the fuse panel. Moved to the dashboard with the 997.

Ah, ok. Thanks!
I picked up the Bentley manual and also have a book on popular upgrades and repairs. I notice there are various errors or incorrect references much like the 3rd radiator as being stock equipment (which I would like to add).
Thanks for setting me straight, now i know to further research everything!

No need to add 3rd radiator to the 40th AE. IIRC the turbo front end that is standard on the AE also includes the larger radiators from the turbo. Anyway, I'm in Texas and even on the hottest day engine temps stay in the normal range. Enjoy your car.

Oh really? Ok! I will take that as positive feedback and you saved me about $600.00! I did not know about the size difference. Time to read more!
If your car can handle the heat in Texas, I sure can in Illinois. That's the perfect location test subject!

Does anyone have the technical service bulletin describing the installation of the X51 Power Kit on a 996? I'm interested in getting as much detail on all of the modifications that our cars' engines have from the factory. I'm a nerd for that kind of stuff, but I suspect I'm in good company here.

Thanks!

I have compiled some documentation that I have stumbled on to from searching around here...
if you want to PM me your email I can get it when I am home next (travel).
May or may not be exactly what you want but the PDF's are pretty neat.

Go back to page 1 of this 63 page thread and read post #2 - lots of links to good info about the 40 AE.

That's where I started, but I was hoping that someone had squirreled away the tech bulletin for X51 installation or some other cool Porsche ephemera.

[I]#883 was in the shop to get clear bra on front end and mirrors replaced. As you can see It didn't stop there. Always loved the Carrera script on the old Duck tails and wasn't sure about racing stripes but what the heck, put em on. Love the vinyl wrap. Get tired of it, take it off. The Orange is kind of a Florida thing. Guy in the store assured me it adds 10 more horsepower!

In addition to the 40jahre911.com website (that has a ton of good info) you should see this about the X51 engine.
