Clutch Pedal Height
The clutch on my '99 996 Cab engages at the very top of the pedal stroke. I'd say all the engagement is in the last centimeter of the stroke. Is this normal? I haven't noticed any slippage.
Can it be adjusted? I recently did the "clutch spring removal" mod, and replaced the spring with a much weaker one. I like the mod, but it really does feel like it engages too high. Thoughts? Thanks!:burnout: |
I dont think you can adjust it.

My 2002 C4 Cab also has a really high engagement. Not sure if its that high though. I also noticed that if I take my car up to 5-6K RPM the clutch pedal gets REALLY soft. Is this normal? Its my first manual car so I am unsure. It seems to shift so much smoother when its gets soft. Or maybe its because I can move the pedal easier? Otherwise under normal driving its really stiff.

I'm not talking about that last bit of free play in the clutch pedal before the slave cylinder engages. I have addressed that with a small spring to replace the massive clutch assist spring that was stock. Regardless of what spring is used, my clutch engages really high in the pedal stroke. I did a search, but didn't find anything specific to the 996. Does high-pedal-stroke engagment mean clutch failure is imminent? |
It could mean time to replace the clutch disk, thinner means shorter engagement zone. Of course with only 7k miles your clutch disk should be fine. Maybe it needs to be bled?
