This is a religous war. Depends on your preference. I have been a Hawk man since they proved themselves to me on track. I will never go with anything else now.

I used Hawk HT10's on track and they made a lot of dust, but were very kind to the rotors. Since rotors are expensive, this was a nice by-product.

I stopped in 2/3 to 1/2 the distance of street rotors and had HUGE confidence getting deep into the zones. I was SOLD.

Other folks like PAGID.

In any case, no matter what you choose, stick with one brand on your rotors. Each brand has a different film they leave on the rotor. Do not play switch-a-roo with brands.

If you want more Bite than Stock (Which Are Terrific BTW) get these Factory Sport Pads http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...6BrakesCarrera Very good Deal for all Four but they are not Recommened for Street Use, i mean the Stock Pads are Good Enough as is... but thats up to you as these are just $15 more

And yes they have Pad Wear Sensors which should be replaced along with new Pads... Front http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...6BrakesCarrera and Rear http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...6BrakesCarrera

Yes this is going to turn into a thread that looks like one about oil.

My last purchase was price driven. Yes they do have wear sensors. But the cheap pads I bought didnt have the hole to mount them. So I had to drill them on the press.

Some people like ceramic becasue of the low dust, but I have been told they are hard on rotors. Some like organic... Dont know why... and some like old fashioned pads.... I think these last ones I bought werr just old fashioned semi metallic pads. I DID spend the money on GOOD rotors and my pads WERE NOT made in CHINA. Just make sure you get USA or German items and i think you will be OK for street use.

i believe textar is the OEM supplier for porsche.

also i like the hawk ceramic composite for street use. very low dust and similar properties to stock with no squeal.

Lots of suppliers are OEM. I know Textar was OE/factory on my 993, and I just did my 996 fronts and the factory pads were Jurid.

As many have discovered, OEM often is very inferior to actual OE Porsche box, when it comes to brake pads. But that's just for squeal free, normal street driving.

I'm a fan of Porterfield R4-S pads for a street/autocross car. I have used them for years and the performance has always been great. Dust is lighter than stock as well, and there is minimal noise.

If you're just looking for a street pad, go for a set of Hawk Performance Ceramics. They are virtually no dust and as quiet as stock. I don't know if they have this application for the 996 though, so you may have to do Hawk HPS, which are in the same boat as the Porterfield R4-S pads.

For street only, you can always use OEM pads and rotors...

I use the porsche sport pads for street and track... no problems.... if you want serious braking power get Pagid yellow... but they wear down the rotors faster...
