Okay - I finally get to post in this thread. it has been a while since this happened to me.

We were driving back with my family from the Porsche get-together in Stamford, CT today - I was literally 3 miles from my home when this idiot in a new pimped out Corvette (black paint, black window tints and lots of chrome) comes flying up behind me on the by-pass.

Obviously I didn't respond the way he wanted, so he pulled along side me and held constant speed with me. I still didn't respond or acknowledge him, so he started seriously revving the engine. It this point I'm seriously questioning if his ***** is so small that it needs an atomic force microscope to see it.

I didn't bite, so he floored it - not seeing that 50 feet in front of him was a Subaru that didn't see him coming - he almost went flying straight into the back of the Subi - the poor Subaru didn't know where to go - it was nasty. When the Subaru moved over the dufus downshifted (with a scream of pain from the Corvette) and a floored it again, leaving behind a seriously blue cloud of smoke. I hope that he gets involved in a single vehicle accident.

Honestly, what kind of pin-head wants to race a guy that has two infants sitting in the back of the car? ..and those idiots wonder why we look down on them?

Fun stuff. I'm so glad that evolution takes those idiots out of the gene pool.

I experience this ALL the time. typically, it s a G35 or altima coupe, and almost any car with a loud muffler and/or those horrible blue headlights... they all assume I want to carve up traffic with them and get annoyed when I dont and start tailgating or driving in my blind spot and then do a loud fly by.

It's funny, as I've not had it happen in several years. I agree - usually, it's not a Corvette, but a souped up tin can of some sort. Older corvettes are usually driven by better (older and slower) drivers, but the newer ones (around here) tend to be driven by idiots.

They see a Porsche and see a race without realizing that we don't need to race in order to feel smug and superior.

good call Mac - good story

I had a car full of kids do this to me about a week ago..... some honda car that had not had all the upgrades, but did have the partial finished body kit, lowering spring (or no springs) and that great fart can of an exhaust.... when he hit the pedal that made it louder (I assumed it was supposed to be faster too??) the thing just made more noise and smoke and litteraly didnt gain any speed??

I was laughing so hard I almost had tears in my eyes - but like you I did not engage in a traffic dodging path of stupidity....

I am sure when they got where ever it was they were heading they had a great story about racing a Porsche and kicking it's a$$

Actually, I was kinda hoping that they would feel like an *** for driving stupidly.

... probably not, but I can hope. He almost took out the Subaru with his dumb-*** behavior.

Yea, i know what you mean about "hoping" they grow brains and learn,.... but some just wont or cant - like you, I have kids and find the same goes for parenting... some can and some wont even try...

Like my first story where the guy is sliding sideways on the onramp, spins out and blocks traffic...you are thinking where the hell did you leave your brain at DUDE

Yup, that's exactly it. You hope that they realize how dumb they were, but the reality is that they take the first path and brag about the Porsche they blew off. Seriously, I'm astounded he didn't take out the Subaru - the poor guy probably needed clean underwear.

I'd really love to have been able to ask him what was going through his tiny mind to try and race a car with two young kids in the back. Oh well.

It would have been funny if it were not for how it almost went wrong. If he'd hit the Subaru he would probably have taken me out also, as I would have had no escape path from two cars colliding 50 feet in front of me.

Earlier this year I was cruising at my usual 80ish on our local highway in a spot where triple digits are a regular occurrence for me when I pulled up behind a green Saturn with chromed wheels (well, green except for the black rear bumper and white driver's side door) doing maybe 70 in the left lane. He spots me, a huge puff of black smoke billows out from underneath the black bumper, and a few minutes later he's 100 yards ahead doing maybe 90-95, barely keeping it in his lane as the suspension was obviously shot. At this point, he decides to roll down the window, stick his entire arm out, and wave goodbye to me. I was laughing hard enough to consider pulling over to the side of the road.

Standard operating procedure in these parts, though it's usually an Audi, BMW, or (most often) Mustang. The Corvette drivers here are usually pretty cool.

That could be part of it.

I must be a real disappointment to those that like to race, as I never take the bait and I always try to set a good example with my driving.

It must amuse other drivers to see a Porsche using proper lane discipline and being overtaken by speeding minivans.

the VW/Audi/BMW guys around here are very laid back. Its almost always an older honda, any civic and eclipse, or a new g coupe that wants to play. Some dont want to actually play, just "prove" they can stay with me (IE within 5 feet of my rear bumper at 70mph even in the rightmost lane) stupid and incredibly dangerous - I hate that....

I got cut off last night in the midle of three lanes (minding my own business) by a woman in a magic wagon with all these stick-on ribbons, such as breast cancer and a pink one which I think is an anti violence towards women (proof to the world how 'careing' she is?) and I had to hit the brakes hard so I didn't get my nose taken off my 996. So I honk at her.

She sticks her finger out the window and tells me I'm number one. Now I'm pizzed.

She weaves into the fast lane cutting another guy off so I hit it and warp up beside her and see a kid in a baby seat in the passenger seat, (of course with the seat the wrong way - back of baby seat against the airbag!) and her now dialing a cell phone.

I didn't even bother after that and let her 'wander' (lane's are for other people I guess) down the highway while I shook my head wondering why some people are the way they are.

She was probably going through permanant "Menopause"

I've had someone try to race me a few time (riced out 60hp Honda, youngster in a BMW or a Stang) and I just ignore them, not worth the risk.

I think so...no one ever tries to race me (no wing)...either that or I'm too oblivious to notice.
