Hey Ed, THAT could get you a 3-day "vacation" from Rennlist, and even if it does, it WAS worth it!

I also have a XJ8/ VDP.
I just told my wife I needed a small economy car that got better gas mileage!!
And would take up less room in the garage.
"I am still shocked it worked!"

I guess the unanimous opinion is a resounding YES! (maybe is surveyed a slightly biased group)

My impression is that with the creature comforts the 996 would work for a DD and if it fits a booster seat in the back that's one more objection eliminated. Now I just need to convince the wife and dispose of the XJ8.

Speedy - beautiful car; I'd admired it in the for sale listings - seal gray is one of my favorites. I honestly hadn't thought about a tippy but that may even be another plus for the wife. I may be calling.

Thanks all for your input!

If you get a chance, drive a Tip and a 6-spd. Mine has AWD, but what the heck. The C4 has much less front boot space due to the Tip mechanicals. Tip was a selling point for my wife as well since she drives it to work now and then.

Mine's a daily driver. I've driven it 52,000 miles in the past three years. Super reliable. (and I still have my '84 Carrera)

Mine wasn't planned to be used as a DD... the original plan was Fridays and weekends... but it sure is hard to pick up the truck keys when the Porsche key is right next to it... I'm hoping the "newness' will wear off soon so I can ease off on the miles (45 mile commute roundtrip...) but doggoneit... at this point I'm not sure it will ever happen... poor me...

Mine does not like to sit still. The only problems I have had are at the end of a long layup period after a bad Colorado winter spell. Drive it, enjoy it....

Mine is a DD. Rain or shine. 5k+ miles since acquiring it. I have a 24 mile round trip to/from work with most of that on the highway. Been super happy with the car once I got it "sorted out".

Mine will be a daily driver. I think. But, the new owner tells me he will store it over the winter in a heated garage.
