Default How can you tell if your 996 engine is the original?

Should there be an ID# on it somewhere that should match the VIN of the vehicle?

Thanks,
Todd

No number to match the VIN. there is a Porsche part number on the engine case. Remanufactured engines have an "x" at the end, so if you engine was replaced with a reman, it should have the x.

Ok thanks. My car should arrive on or around Friday. Will follow back up with y'all.

Does anybody know exactly when the 996 switched from cable throttle to e-gas?

Order a CoA from PCNA.
It will have all the information to match chassis/trans/engine.

1999 was the only year with a throttle cable. The rest were e-gas.

True, except for the 99 C4 which was e-gas.
