++1... The last time this was brought up one of the guys said to just hang the bumper over the driveway (if you have an inclined driveway)... I lifted mine this time (to have room to put the spin-on filter adapter on), but next time, I'm just going to hang it out of the garage a foot or so... the spin-on K&N filter has a nut molded into the bottom of the can, so I can drain the oil and change the filter without lifting the car at all...

I have been using a drain pan like this one under various P cars for 25 years. Works fine.

just tried my oil extractor and only got out 4 quarts or so.
why doesn't an oil extractor work with this car?

Maybe I'm old school, but...one of the benefits of dropping the drain plug method of removing oil is that it gets you under the car to see what's been going on since the last oil change. Over the years, I have found various problems or emerging issues with my cars simply because I took the time to look around with a good flash light when changing the oil.

FYI- when I take my '99 cab in for its annual oil change, the tech invites me to look around underneath, and then he splits open the filter to check for metal particulars or ??. I still change my own oil with my wife's Jag XJ8...160K miles and still going strong, meaning the Jag here. ha.
