'03 C4S Grills?
Hi guys-
I went out and bought myself a salvaged '03 C4S. I know, but it was what I could afford, plus, I was going through withdrawals from giving my youngest daughter my '76 912E that I've owned since 1981. Loved that car-ended up with app. 130hp and ran like a Singer (sewing machine, not a...) What could I do? Porscheless and had that empty feeling in my stomach. Throw money at that feeling? Yep---Damn!
This was in late Oct., just before the crash (the stock market-not the poor Porsche) and it has been in the hospital since. Needed a new driver's fender and bumper covers and a small dent on left rear and a headlight and a tailight and a hood and (story to continue I'm sure)
So, I need the three bumper "grills" and can't seem to find any other than Steve and Suncoast. About $450, which is not a bad price, but jeez, it's just some frikin' plastic and $450......know what I sayin', unnerstan' what I mean?
Anybody have any ideas?
I searched the "GRILL" and just got the Home Depot gutter thing which I may fabricate and do sans grills but I would rather figure out something less, what, ghetto(?)
Another question is about the paint. This is the fifth or sixth resto this body shop has done for me....and now the owner's kids are taking over. After each of these restorations, I took a picture of the cars and bikes for the owner, and he hung them on the office wall...50 Ford Woody, Cobra replicar, Harleys, etc. His boys grew up with those pics and when I brought in the Porsche they decided to out do dad. The car, seal grey, has been completely sanded and ready for paint. I thought it may be a good time to paint it a slightly different color. Something very close to Seal Gray but maybe without the metalic in the paint, sort plain gray close to the original color (so we don't have to paint the door jams and stuff). Waddya think?
So now I have three questions:
ANY IDEAS ABOUT GRILLS
PAINT?
DID THAT SULLY GUY HAVE A FLOAT PLANE RATING?
Going to the movies now, see y'all later

Okay, now I'm back. Martians v Aliens is so much more than an animated cartoon movie. I laughed, I cried (I sang--I danced--a little seltzer down the pants) and was struck by the dicotomy of life. How things aren't red or blue, how things are not black or white,... but shades of gray. And speaking of gray, this car of mine, I'm thinking of a dark slate gray. Kind of like the floor at Home Depot, but with more depth., more feel. " Why not, Stu," I say to myself. What would Ed do?
Thanks Tim...BBQ Grill gaurd it is...maybe some air conditioner filters, too. Couldn't find the Porsche part no's. Off to the box store to get stuff for my new baby. Gotta luv it. Don't tell ANYONE because I would really get....well, you know,... I don't really care

When I took my bumper off for repaint and cleaning of the radiators, I put in some mesh-screens over the grilles.
It's worked very well, and worth every effort I put in the mod. No more crap in there for once!
Here's a close up picture, you might be able to use the idea but somehow find a way to attach it onto the inside of the bumper instead.
For more details of the DIY and where to get the materials, here's the LINK
Good Luck!

Oh, Sunday mornings, Home Depot and buying Porsche parts. A solution to my grill problem. Life does not get much better than this! Livin' large! Bought screen door gaurds, about $13 (I know, I know, but nothing is too good for my baby) and a furnace filter $1.50. Now to make a template and then get out the product, insert tab A into slot B, wait...I just had a good idea, gotta go find my wife.
She'll take pictures!
Of the grill...shame on you! Now go to your room and think about what you have done.
