An Image of my Porsche 996 C4S.
I meant to post a few of these images here, but accidentally posted them at OFF TOPIC, thought I'd share one here.

Sweet!... what camera, lense?
|
Thank you.
Pentax K10D, not a popular make. This image was taken with the cheapest lens in my kit, an old russian manual focus lens made decades ago, the Volna-9 50mm/f2.8 1:2 macro. |
very nice image... nice colors and composition.... good job!
|
Nice photo.
Now I feel like a slacker. I guess I'll get out the good camera next time. |
gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing |
Thank you all for the compliments...
I wanted to share this here, as the 'in-your' face looks of the image of the 996 headlight fits right in with the curves of a 911. |
SCHWEET PIC!!!! Thanks for sharing. You have been holding out on us! :nono: :D
|
Very nice. I think we need a C4S thread.
|
Agreed, very nice!

JD,
I just love Lapis Blue! That pic brings a tear of remembrance to my eye. :crying: |
great shot....... very clear....
|
Nicely composed! Sometimes I find the BEST images I have were taken with the lesser lenses, while the Zeiss stuff stays in the bag!
|
Thank you for the compliments, I really appreciate it.
One more, http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3453/...2cf349af_b.jpg |

You mean like when you picked it up at Zuffenhausen?
|
 That's good :D
Better than a squirrel tail, or a large speed yellow wing. :crying: But Jeeva's Sunset is ... dreamy! PS. were you at Zuffenhausen? |

However, they both have heavy post processing (photoshop) as the car and the sunset required very different exposures.... well I am no wiz with the camera and I did NO post processing (as that only made it worse) but here is a shot of my car after a bath.
Funny thing is the light almost looks like an MKII in from this angle. Canon G2 Powershot (old, but not bad) |

Did you ever have the front bumper re-painted? How many miles did your car have in this pic? |

JD,
I think I had only about 20K miles on the car when that pic was taken. No, I never did have my front bumper repainted. The reason why is because it was a lease and I didn't want to incur the expense if I was not going to buy it at lease end. By the end of the lease, I did have a lot of small stone chips on the front bumper cover and if I had decided to keep the car, I would have had the bumper cover repainted. The following pics were taken with about 42K miles on the car. As you can see, the front bumper cover looked like it had been sand blasted. This was the only real "blemish" area on the paint, and would have been easily remedied. The first pic was taken from about 5 or 6 feet from the car. The other 3 pics were shot from about 2 feet from the bumper cover. The reason I took these shots was becase I was trying to sell the car and if someone from out of town was interested, I could send them the pics so they would know the facts up front (no pun intended). ;) |
Hey Tim, have you decided on the model of your next Porsche?
|
awe ha !
that's what my front clip looks like......... and to think I was embarrassed.... ITS NORMAL ! ;) |

I think white / blue would be awesome!
although I love the dark colors, the whole "rock chipped nose" thing has me thinking lighter and its OBVIOUS Tim hasn't thought about that one AT ALL!! ;) |
Yeah my nose, well my car's nose, is all chipped up too and a lighter colour would be less 'worriesome' but dark cars are soooo nice. Nice to know that this degree of wear is normal.....
Tim, we all look up to you here, especially us newbies, so please, once you get a chance to consider all possible options, let us know 'k? :) |

Interesting.
I love the choices. Very close to what I would now choose. However, Why not a turbo?

As for the Turbo, I am not sure I would like the 4-wheel drive feeling (I have never driven a 4-wheel drive 911) and I don't think I need the extra HP. There are '07 997 Turbos that are priced in the low $80's, which is a pretty good price on a car that was $140K +/- two years ago. Based upon what I have read about the Turbo, the general consensus is that the suspension is too soft, especially in the rear, and while the lag has been minimized compared to the 996 Turbo, it is still present. Hell, if I WANTED lag, I could just keep driving my Honda, which has the ultimate lag. The power surge has yet to appear after 10 months of driving it! :banghead: |
