2 years ago I paid $33,000 for my then 60k mile 996 c2 cab.

I passed on a 2 owner 70k mile 2000 c2 coupe yesterday for $17,500. It was full leather, HID lights, aero, 6spd, etc. nearly flawless car. great color combo, too

I am going to look at a 90k mile 2001 TT tomorrow for $31,000- and it sounds negotiable.

Is this as good as it is going to get? or should I hold out a little bit longer?

I agree, prices are so low it's crazy. Yesterday I watched a 2001 Mercedes CLK55, in very good condition, 70K miles, sell for 10,000. That's a 346 HP vehicle for 10,000.

I've been trying to sell my '99 with a new factory motor for a few months. No bites at $26K! Too bad I'm moving soon. It's a great time to buy though if you're in the market.

I don't think $31k for a 996 turbo is realistic (for one that doesn't need something serious). Same with a "clean" 996 under $18k. I'd buy one on the spot if I found one with Xenons, and I don't mind high mileage. I've been looking for some time. Yes prices are down, but they're not down that far...

I don't think $31K for a 90K mile TT is that unrealistic. I've seen a handful of TT's in the mid to high $30's with 50K miles. There aren't that many people in the market for a 90K mile TT which is probably why the price is low. That's one hell of a $30K car!!!!

Do yourself a favor and get a carfax and a ppi.....sorry had to do it.:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Times are tough for everything, it's not that 996's are gone to the crapper. Look up what travel trailers, jet skis and anything else people bought with the equity of their home with is going for now.

I wish I could buy a 2005 boxster for my DD. Seriously $28K? What a steal. I just have to convince my wife. She was complaining that a Mini only had four seats...

I just ran a nationwide check on autotrader, there is not a single (manual trans) 911 tt for less than $40k in the entire country.

Similarly I only see 2 996s for under 20k, most are well over $25k advertised price. I have cash, and would buy one if I found the deals you guys believe are out there?!

As for this car...I can tell you it is sold (or at least it will be by Thursday!). And, its very, very clean (although the tires need to be replaced).

(By the way, is there an easy way to do nationwide searches on Craigslist? I've never managed to figure out how to do that, and always resort to having to search each city individually).

No, there is no accurate way to thoroughly search craigslist nationwide. Or at least I haven't found it.

That's what I figured...maybe that would be a good website concept for some enterprising programer/html guy (if you could get around copyright issues).
