Default Good deal on supercharger?

I was thinking about getting a VF-Engineering supercharger and want to make sure that I am getting a good deal on the Group buy. Is $8400.00 a good deal on this kit? I am new to shopping for the kit so i am wondering if it is easy to find the kit cheaper than that or should I just buy it through the group buy that is running? Has anyone shopped for one of these that can help me out?

I spoke with them a couple of months ago, and if I remember the price quoted was around 11K, so I think $8400 is a solid number! According to VF, if you're comfortable taking the front clip off the car, you should be able to install over a weekend as well, should you prefer to do it yourself.

I think I am going to go for it, the shop with the group buy is close to me so I will have them install it. I think I am going to get a major service along with the install so that I know that everything is good to go. They said the group buy ends in month so that is when they will be able top get all the kits and then I will let all of you know about the supercharger kit and how it worked out. I can't wait.

Where is the group buy and is it still open? I've been toying with the idea of having an SC installed and this might be the incentive.

Thanks

I saw it advertised on 6 speed but I don't see why it is not on here too. I guess the more people that are involved, the better off we are.

thanks for the link, $9200 for the 3.6L, still a great deal, but not sure why there's such a big step up in price between the 3.4 and the 3.6 kits.

big HP difference between the two.... 475HP and the weight savings on the carrera vs turbo... makes it a nice sleeper.

Just placed an order on mine so there is one down on the group buy, I was thinking about installing one of these for a long time so I am happy to finally get my hands on one. I guess I will be the first one to get one installed from the group buy. I am going to have them add some other things to the car while I am doing it like new coils, oil change, fuel filter, plugs, etc. Now I just have to decide what exhaust and head combo I want to get.

I am looking for something that does not sound tiny, is more bass sounding than loud and looks very aggressive, any ideas?

I mean I get the marketing, but it's the same kit right? so 9200 for 3.6 and 8400 for 3.4? aside from ECU (both of which get sent out to Garret Lim right?), is there any difference?

yeah its the same kit.... though the 3.4 gets 6 psi and the 3.6 get 5psi boost... As for the ECU, since Evo is no longer partnering with vf... I have not heard who does the software... it was GIAC before (currently what I have), maybe its still GIAC but noone has able to confirm it... I doubt VF is capable of the sofware in house.

I believe I can confirm GIAC (Garrett Lim), i spoke with the owner of VF a couple of months ago when they moved away from evo and were switching from V2 to the V3 (name is Andy if I remember correctly, nice guy)

I think I may let sleeping dogs lie with my car while it's under warranty, look out 2010 though
