Fuel Choices
Opinions/suspicions are ok, but I prefer data. I was working on some tax numbers today and happened to review the numbers for the Porsche. As I use it in business, I keep a log.
During 2007, I put 7057 miles on my '03 996. About half the time I filled with Chevron; about half the time I filled with Shell. By the end of the year, I had 24 visits to Chevron & 20 to Shell. Mileage, gallons & type of fuel were logged.
Taking into account what was actually in the tank when the mileage numbers were created, overall, I got 22.76mpg for the year.
Chevron = 22.4; Shell = 22.8.
The difference isn't significant. So, what this tells me is that it really doesn't matter & just shop for price or convenience.
Worth knowing. Discarding a misconception can be more powerful than learning something new.
