Question Climate Control Always Automatically On Upon Starting Car

Whenever I start my car the climate control always automatically turns on.

Anyone know how to set it so whenever I start my car the climate control remains off till I wish to turn it on?

Thank you!

Are you turning it off before you shut off the ignition?

Default Try this.

On mine I run the fan speed down all the way and then, release and push the fan button again. The display then reads "OFF" and will remain that way when I restart the car.

My does the same thing.I'll turn it off while driving, and when I restart the car it will automatically be back on.

I turn my a/c off and run the fan speed down until it says manuel before stopping the car. Sometimes even at that, the fan will speed up like it's trying to reach set temp. w/o a/c on. I'll slow it down again and it is usually fine after that.

Does sound like a dealer setting. Mine stays in the exact same mode it was is when I turned the car off. I'll have to check my Autoenginuity software and see if that is settable. Only oddity (normal tho) is that if I have AC off, with out side air, then turn on recirc (say, like when I pull up behind some truck spewing smoke) to keep the stink out, it always turns the AC on...like you're going to suffocate in the car with only recirc on. In fact, if you switch to AC w/recirc, it will switch to outside air after some period of time automatically...

Same for me. I turn mine off by just pushing the fan speed button enough times to reach the "off" display. It will stay that way until I turn it on again.

Regarding the comment about a/c on recirc: doesn't recirc automatically engage a/c mode? And in auto mode, the a/c will switch between recirc and fresh air, depending on demand. Also, the fan speed changes upon starting a/c will occur because the compressor has a soft start in the 996.

Yes it does, (that's why I said it was normal), but every other car I've owned has never done this. It will switch from recirc to fresh..never from fresh to recirc.

Mine too, I always wondered if there was something wrong but after reading this thread I guess I am not alone.

Mine's the same way...no big deal though. I just set the temp at 72 and cruise...top up or down.
