Creaky Squeaky noises from clutch?
2004 C4S
16k miles
Noticed the other day a squeaky noise from clutch depress/let out while car not on, door open.
Took to dealer, quick thought from tech is pressure plate. Hard to believe at 16k miles that would be going, but it's not a cheap fix if so.
Thought there had to be some lube points that would solve this, but not sure.
With engine off, door open, pressing clutch or letting it out gives same noise, like a dry old spring in need of lube.
Anyone?

Took it by this morning. Nothing really can be done in a minor way. Based on all the analysis, I'll need to replace the pressure plate. What a pisser. Just had the tranny out a few weeks ago, would have been nice to know then. But I do have an ext warranty that might help a bit. We'll see next week.
Thanks for the tips though.

Eric,
don't spend your $$ chasing this one... this is normal and I doubt its your pressure plate after only 16K miles... unless you've been drag racing it?

I had sqeaks on both my Boxster and 996.
Dealer wanted $500 to replace the clutch pedal assembly.
Both times, I took it to my indy who pulled off the clutch pedal and put some grease on the hinge/spring. Never squeaked again.

It happened on my 02 C4S.
So I looked at the schematic diagram on Pelican Parts of the pedal assembly and squirted in some silicon lube (assisted by a mirror and work light).
First time it didn't work. Did it again and it has been great ever since. You are right -- its very annoying.
Perhaps the shop that lubed it missed it. Might be worth trying yourself before paying for serious work.
Good luck.

Bent....can you email me any details on what you did, where, etc? The noise is clearly coming from the rear, so I'm pretty certain the fix is a new pressure plate, which sucks at 16k miles.
Thanks Arnee..Slave was lubed recently. Not a fix.

Pedal pivot, yes. Slave cylinder, yes. Throwout fork, yes. But pressure plate? Am I missing something? Can somebody explain how a pressure plate can creak while the pedal is depressed with the engine not running? Makes not sense to me.

My issue was clearly from the left side of the driver's footwell when I depressed the clutch... so I cleverly deduced it was a the clutch pedal pivot area
Which means my experience and recommendation above (for lube) is for that specific problem, not a squeak coming from the rear.
But to answer you request (just in case it sheds some light), here is the Pelican Parts diagram:
https://techinfo.porsche.com/techinf...96_KATALOG.pdf
then go to parts group 7, and the pedal cluster is 702.
Sorry, I have no clue about other fixes to squeaks from the rear.
