I have checked with over 7 diffrent shops (P-Car shops mainly) and the price is all the same. Also when I was in GA, the price was also 7-8K - I know it is expensive...Trust me I know,,,,

"The only thing that sets me off about the Cab is that I don't like the look of the soft top, plus it doesn't perform as well... & with the Targa, .... it's even a little slower than the Cab."

Coupe, cab, Targa ... they're all great cars. It's personal preference so get what you want.

Not that you think of Carreras as 1/4 mile cars, but here's some stats that you might find interesting re. 996 C2s with 3.6 engine, 6-spd:

Road & Track times ... 0-60 ... 0-100 ... 1/4 mile
coupe ... 4.9 ... 12.2 ... 13.4
Targa ... 5.0 ... 12.0 ... 13.5
cab ...... couldn't find

Porsche published numbers ... 0-60 ... weight (lbs.)
coupe ... 5.0 ... 2,965
Targa ... 5.2 ... 3,119
cab ...... 5.2 ... 3,141

FWIW

The weight difference is almost irrelevant. If you've a C2 coupe with some heavy options like solid 18' twists, full power seats ... then you easy exceed the weight of the targa or the cab and the 0-60 numbers flip. I guess that beside some early '99 C2s there are not too many <3k lbs Coupes around.
