just curious... found an '02 C4S at good price... but it didnt have painted bumperettes... i thought that 02+ 996s came with painted ones...

Mine has them - but the previous owner must have installed with parts from bumperplugs.com. I've got bumperplugs up front, painted center console with ashtray delete, aluminum look gauge rings and painted bumperettes.
I don't think the '02 had the painted bumperettes from the factory as standard equip...
The bumperplugs stuff is top, top quality and looks great. Cost is not bad either, so don't let that stop you from buying a great car! Then give Eric (Plug Guy) a call...

no they didn't come painted from the factory on the C4S.

Slight hijack... do people think this mod is worth it on the darker-coloured cars? I love the look on, say, silver or yellow. But it seems to me that on my Ocean Blue car, it's going to be pretty subtle and maybe not worth the money. Thoughts?

Not worth it on my black either. Your blue would look almost as good as long as it has been washed.

I may do it just to avoid having to put vinyl treatment on my bumperettes, and having to wipe it off the surrounding bumper's painted finish!

I left mine unpainted on my Atlas Gray car - think the contrast, although subtle, looks good.

I think it makes a difference on any color! I had a Black Boxster S and it looked so much better. I think it would have more of an impact than you think.

The 996C4S rear bumperettes were not painted (just like the 996tt rear bumperettes) throughout the entire model cycle, unlike the other 996 models which received a "facelift" update in '02 including factory painted rear bumperettes.
