Option Sticker Replacment

While cleaning my car the other day I noticed the option sticker inside the hood has been removed by the previous owner. You can clearly see the someone peeled it off as the remenants of glue are still there.

I have read in a previous post from one person that replacing the sticker might have negative affects on resale since a new sticker might indicate front end damange or hood replacement.

I'd have to believe the car was never hit. no sign of damage was found during the PPI. Additionally, i bought the car from a dealer and it had the CPO. I assume they do not offer CPO for previously hit cars

My issue
Im not sure why, but I feel the need to make and replace the sticker trying to keep the car original. Do you think I'd be doing more harm then good to the value?

it's like having full papers, original boxes with nice automatic watches - you're fuqed without them.

As a buyer, I'd be very unsettled by a forged option sticker and would probably walk. It would be easy enough to make one, but it would never be quite right, and would raise questions about what you're trying to hide.

A lot of owners don't realize that there is a duplicate option sticker in their warranty book (or service book... I forget). If you need to prove what the car was built with, that will do the job.

i'll check my books tonight - im interested to see if its there

Thanks for the tip

Some people hate stickers (me being one) and might have thought nothing of it when removing it. I agree with Bruce/BC, go with the flow at this point. Do you still have the visor warnings? If these are gone as well (no big deal here, probably nicer w/o) this might be a sign of the sticker less freak.

Ironically - visors sticker are still there

good point, maybe I should remove all the stickers and claim I'm OCD :)

Good perspective. Before I got caught up in the culture of P cars, I would have done the same thing. Cheesy paper sticker under my hood? Gone. But mine is still there, all wrinkly and nasty looking. Porsche owners are strange creatures...

Yes! good idea, claim OCD, it's not all bad.

you can also get a certificate of authenticity from porsche indicating the options on the car. it costs like 60 bucks, but its pretty handy if you don't have your books or the underhood sticker.

LOL... you, like me, bought your COA a few years ago. It was $35 when I bought mine (in 2000 I think). And, you say $60... and if you look at the order sheet today it says "$95.00 plus shipping"!

Don't remind me.... ordered my COA last year for that price! But it does look nice in a frame on the wall... LOL

I rescue this thread because I can reproduce the underhood sticker (including the maintenance booklet too)

These are for a 993 series, but 996 is easy for me. I've done several to Soloporsche users in Spain

My under hood sticker is faded. I would love to have a new one.
