I think it may have more to do with our vanity than anything else. Imagine telling your buds that you spent $700K on a modified Cayman. Yea, crazy, but I guess the brand/model counts.

You're probably right Ben. While I love my 996, I can't think of a good reason the factory doesn't put a 911 engine into a Cayman (other than keeping the 911 line the flagship). Don't get me wrong; I love the tradition and history of the 911 and I'm glad Porsche is keeping it alive. But maybe they could put a 911 engine into a Cayman and just call it a 997 sport...
I would absolutely love to drive that vehicle. I'm seriously considering a Cayman as my next vehichle regardless of the engine.
