Do yourself (and us) a favor by doing the following.
- Close both threads (you will only generate hard feelings on both sides and it will deteriorate - once again "search function")

Good luck.
+1.

And this:

Compliments of Tim

Gotta love the "hand made" argument.

Evidently, the 993 was "handmade" right next to the "hand made" Boxster.

After watching these videos (below), I'm not so sure "hand made" is a plus.

In general the 993 forum is pretty much full of **** when it comes to this topic. The funny part is I think some of them actually believe what they are writing.

Me: 964 to 993 to 996. I can buy anything I want (within reason). I now own a 996.

OT: I was at the BMW dealer last week and some ******** salesdroid was driving the **** out of a Carrera GT up & down the street. Man oh man, did it sound good! Of course, some poor S.O.B. is going to be buying a used GT garage queen that has spent more time bouncing off of the rev limiter than it has idling. Oh well.

Man that pic is f------ hilarious!

The search function must be down
No kidding brother. So long as you like the car you have what else matters. Person that started this thread and the one on the 993 forum is a troll and some fell into his trap.

Before I bought my 996, I test drove the 993 first and then the 996. When I drove the 993, I loved the acceleration and handling. I had a nice smile on my face. When I drove the 996, my grin was from ear to ear and I was sold. The 996 is faster if that is one of your considerations.

Too funny. Next to the oil threads, this is always one of my favorites. Good news for me, it comes up with some degree of regularity.

Are there some sort of related 997 vs 996 threads that perhaps I have missed? After all, we all know the 996 was the last of the "pure" water cooled Porsches, and the 997 is a mere shadow of the 996. All tarted up with excess weight and phoney retro styling for posers and soccer moms. Plus, I went to this one dealer, who had sold at least two Porsches, and he told me if I bought a 997, the salesman would likely come to my house in the dead of night and rape my dog.
