Default Need help with making a decision:

Buying a house with a small 2 car garage (smaller than normal) and I'm considering selling my 03 Targa that I bought in February. Here are my scenarios:

A. Sell the Porsche now
B. Store the car for the winter and sell in spring
C. Store the car for the winter and use it as a daily driver next year after the lease expires on my current daily driver (MB E500) and figure something out next fall.

The Targa is a creampuff with only 15,500 miles. Basalt black, gray leather, PSE, 18inch wheels.

What should I do?

Should have bought a house with a bigger garage...but what is done can be changed. Knock down a side wall of the garage and build it out bigger

Just keep the Porsche

If you need the cash sell the car. If not, add a small addition to 1 side of the 2 car garage and keep your Targa.

Sell the house and buy two more 996's; a Coupe and Cab. Then you will have hit the trifecta!

Park the Targa smack in the middle of the garage. It shouldn't have to share the space with the others anyway.

I just turned in my "daily" from lease, and am now driving the 996 as a daily. I put 25 miles on my "daily" over 3.5 months once the 996 arrived.

Keep the 996...get some snows and dedicated winter wheels. They are suppose to be great in the snow with the right tires.

Either A or C. I would not take option B. If you store the car and try to sell in spring, I think you'll lose more money. You'll be making car payments (if you still are paying off the car), paying insurance and registration, plus the car will continue to depreciate. If you love the car, then go with C. If not, then A (sounds like a line of programming).

Yeah, you're not going to have room for both cars. If the lease is up fairly soon on the MB, try to hold on to both if you can. The Targa will make a great daily driver.

If you have to sell put it up now and hold firm on the price. You have time to worry about it later. Be sure to drive it while you can...

Are you kidding!!!!!!!!!!!! These are the wrong people to ask about selling a Porsche!!
I like the garage add-on idea myself!
Good luck with whichever solution you choose!

Maybe you live somewhere silly that is further complicating the question, but I don't get it. If you like the Porsche, keep it. If you don't, then sell it. It's really that simple.

If you like it, then put it in the garage and park the lease car on the street or in the driveway if there's room. Put the miles on that until it's gone and use the 911 as your toy until it becomes your DD. You don't have to worry about snow in CA so enjoy it! It's a great DD (unless you're in sales and have to take customers out). But that's a different thread...

If you love the car, you need to think outside the box (garage that is). I would bump the garage out, put a vac, airhose reel, toolbox, lifts, heater, porsche pictures framed on the wall, fridge, seal the floors, flat screen on the wall (speed channel) and that should hopefully solve the problem.

Oh...I did the inside mods one long weekend when my wife was visiting relatives - she knows I have an addiction.

Good Luck!

Seems like you gave a lot of info about the specifics of the car,
"The Targa is a creampuff with only 15,500 miles. Basalt black, gray leather, PSE, 18inch wheels."
that really was not needed for the "Question", so if you want to sell on this forum pony up the 18.... FYI I was looking on this site every day for answers and new car posting... just got my 02

Don't worry about whether the Porsche fits in the garage or not. These cars can take the weather. My 99 has spent most of its life outside and the paint still looks like new. '

What really counts is to drive the car. Parking it in the garage for the winter only saves it for the next owner. We buy these cars to drive them. When I don't use my Porsche as a daily driver, it gets sold.
