Default What is correct offset for a 19" rim on a 996 C2?

As per the title question...the rims i'm looking at are available in the following sizes, which are the correct offset/sizing?

19" x 11" 5/130 25

19" x 11" 5/130 52

19" x 8" 5/130 45

19" x 9.5" 5/130 49

There is no official sizing, as 19" wheels are not approved for 996 by Porsche

Using OEM wheels from Porsche - on my 996 C2 I have:

19x11 with 67 offset rear (as stamped on the wheel)

19x8 with 57 offset front

No issues with rubbing etc - std suspension on the car.

To cdodkin:
Could you tell us the size of the tyres you wear in these Carrera S rims, please?

Tires are Toyo T1R in 235/35/19 and 315/25/19

Excellent grip - nice ride - sidewall has a bead that protects the rim

As has already been stated, the 19" wheel with the 997 offset of 57 (front) is WAY TOO FAR IN. THe factory offset is 50 and most feel that is 5-7mm to0 far in anyway.

Omar-
A good measure to start with is what the offsets are for your 18". I think you would love the 8" et45 for the front. But in the rear the 11" et 52 might be too far out for you. The GT3 takes 11" et63 in the rear and I couldn't imagine moving that out 11mm.

Thanks.

235 front it's not very different from 225/30 R18, but 315 .... enormous !!!
It's oversize!! perhaps aesthetic is like a big foot but in corner stability, steering response, ride comfort, wet traction and so on wouldn't be the best compromise.

I've bought a set of Carrera S wheels off a standard body 2006 997 and i'm looking at tires now. I'm putting them on a 1999 996 cabriolet. I've decided to put 235 35 19s on the front but what should I put on the back? I absolutely don't want rubbing but I like an aggressive look. Do you have a rear shot of the 315 25 19s on the car?

Thanks! (and a classic, great looking car you've got!)

On the 11" rim you should run a 295 with 235 up front.

You're talking about a 295 30 correct?

Thanks!

Thanks, here's a rear shot of the car

315 is a nice fit, not as stretched as the 295 on the rim - gives a good side wall with protection for the exposed edge of the rim.

Running 315 and 25 profile on 11" rims means that the tire runs higher than the 25 profile would suggest - and with the Toyo's being my #1 choice, I love it!

No rubbing on my 996, even with 315

315 is the better choice as it is closer to the 25" wheel design, less error than 295

And, What about of the equivalence? The geometry is changed
Aren't you modifing the gear box developments?

AnoTher question:
Did you mount N-specs tires?

Your car looks awesome. What a spectacular rear!!!!

The front tire wheel combo is the same 25" as the original spec wheel

The rear 315/25 tire makes the overall wheel/tire size -1.1% from original, but having a 315 width on an 11" rim makes the tire ride taller, and this gets you extremely close to the OEM size.

Limit on over/under size is 4% according to Porsche, so they're well within specification.

As for N rated - there is no 315/25/19 N rated tire that I'm aware of - there are very few 19" tires on the market to choose from.

The Toyo T1R is Y rated for speed 186 MPH or 300 KM/H - I am not concerned about their capabilities, or about using only N rated tires.

Quick Reply: What is correct offset for a 19" rim on a 996 C2?
