Friends don't let friends drive THEIR OWN GT3!

IIRC no cars would be covered under the organizers insurance. Your pretty much on your own. For the case of the cars hit that where parked they may have a better chance at their own insurance to cover it.

It sounds to me like the POS Corvette intentionally took out the GT3. Damn those Vettes!!!

I hope the friend at least bought the GT3 owner a beer afterwards, and not a domestic beer either.

Actually Mike it was the GT3 that went plowing into the crowd. The GT3 owner let his friend (that owns the vette) drive his GT3.

There are great photos of the a priori and post crash pics from that run that are posted in the thead from that VW forum.

Ooops, sorry guys.. I had it backwards. So it is the GT3 that plowed on everyone's car. BUT it was the Vette's driver(who is a friend of the GT3 owner) that was driving the GT3 when it wrecked!

I just saw this car at Precision in Beaverton. My car is there still being fixed from the DUI hit and run, and the gal there showed me the pictures and the car in their lot. They are repairing it. It took out three other cars as well. It's a great looking GT3, feel bad for the guy.

Are all the stickers and decals the easily removable type on that wrecked GT3?

is his insurance going to cover repairs to his GT3 in a timed event? I'm sure the underwriters have some language in there forbidding coverage in competitions.

with the exception of stadium lots, I think most curbed lots are too small for autocross...well at least the ones I've seen.

The brake, clutch, and gas are totally in different spacing locations in the Vet from the GT3. The guy obviously didn't follow the rule of taking it slow till you learn the new layout!!! It isn't enough to be good in your own car, when you drive someone else's. (I've made my own mistakes, but at least they were with my car). Wow!!! I imagine he feels bad enough without me pointing this out.

I asked the person at the body shop I know about coverage and this is the response:

THE INSURANCE IS PAYING FOR THE REPAIR ON THE RED GT3.

MOST REGULAR INS. POLICIES DON'T COVER DAMAGE RESULTING FROM RACING ON THE STREET OR A TRACK, HOWEVER YOU CAN BUY SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR RACING WHICH MOST OF THESE GUYS THAT RACE HIGH DOLLAR CARS HAVE.

I HAVE ALSO HEARD SOME DEBATE THAT PIR IS CITY OWNED THEREFORE PUBLIC PROPERTY AND MOST POLICIES SPECIFY THAT DAMAGE ON PUBLIC PROPERTY IS COVERED, SO THERE MAY BE SOME GRAY AREA.
