Johannes,

I think here in the U.S. Those are the stock tires that will come with the car and you you could opt for other types. ??

As far as I know, all 996 GT3 came on either Micelin Pilot Sport (and 2) or Pirelli P Zero Rosso.

Geez, how does that happen at an AutoX? All of the courses I have seen (NNJ region) are set up so no cars come near eachother.

Shame. Which is why I don't race my cars. You never know!

They had the final straight before the turn to pick up your time ticket set up where everyone else stage up/or maybe parked. This CORVETTE owner let his friend drive his car and pressed the clutch instead of the brake pedal when the vette over steered....??

Ah, I read that other thread after I posted. How do you mistake the clutch (left foot) for the brake (right foot)??

Never understood how people could do that. Every book I've read says it's counter-intuitive, and in a panic situation, your brain can't distinguish which foot to use fast enough, so you need to use your right foot for both braking and gas.

I do it all the time, and I find it to be a far superior technique. All you need is to practice a little, and it will be intuitive. In fact, it arguably is much safer. The rally guys can keep their foot right over the brake so they can instantly hit the brakes if necessary. I do this all the time on the streets when I see something/someone/some situation that makes me suspicious that I may need to get on the brakes quickly.

A great place to start learning is with an automatic street car.

That said, LFB is not as effective with street 996s due to e-gas. Specifically, unlike in my race car, you cannot use the brakes and the gas at the same time: the 996 will cut throttle. Moreover, the pedal placement on the stock 996 is not ideal for LFB in my opinion. That could be the reason why the guy in the corvette had the problem: he was in a car that was unfamiliar to him, and he was driving too close to the limit.

The organization's insurance does not cover the cars participating. It's for property damage of the venue (in general). You sign a waiver to damages when you run so, no, the SCCA's insurance will not cover your car or anyone else's.

Since the insurance company won't cover the GT3, will it cover the other cars damaged or will the owner of the GT3 have to answer to those people also?

Friends don't let friends drive THEIR OWN GT3!
