Default Trustworthy Shops for PPI in Orange County, CA?

Recommendations of your favorite shops for pre-purchase inspection for a 996 in the OC would be appreciated. Thank you!!

Anyone heard of the following:

Bill Brewster Automotive in San Clemente

Professional Motorcar in San Juan Capistrano

(these may be out of OC already?)

the owner of the car lives in San Clemente. He is preferring the above two for PPI, since they are closer.

I spoke to people at Hergesheimer (Laura) and I really liked what I heard. Should I insist on Hergesheimer? The owner says that Lake Forest where Hergesheimer is located is really far (on the map it seems to be @ 10-15 miles) from San Clemente.

Heresheimer is the only Indy I would have to do the PPI, IMHO.

That being said, they are probably a good 45 minutes to an hour from San Clemente depending on what time of the day it is...

I have not heard of Bill Brewster or Professional Motorcar.

Going the other way (South) may be faster.

All German Auto in Escondido are a top notch Indy, and they are 42 miles away.

1327 Simpson Way
Escondido, CA 92029
(760) 738-4626

Ask for Martin (Manager) or Camaron (Service)

What's the going rate for a PPI and what's usually covered or what should I expect/want them to cover?

Ben,

the going rate seems to be from $250 to @325, from my queries from Florida to California.

Hergesheimers gave me the following rundown: inspections on the lift to look for replacements/problem areas, checking the codes, photos for blemishes in and out, driving impressions, checking all electrical components to make sure they work, compression testing, paint gauge measurements. Takes about 3.5 hours. If the compression is bad, they'd call me to terminate early to not waste their time and more of my money.

Some shops tell me that compression tests are optional if the car is relatively newer (like 2003's with less than 30K miles) and if it looks like it's in good shape through the rest of the inspection. If so, the price of the PPI would be lower. But I think if you're going to plunk down the big bucks, what's another few upfront to know the most about your potential purchase?

Also, are you thinking of a Porsche from San Fran to bring up to Seattle? Why not drive it? You'll do it in a day!
