Irksome

I've scanned and searched, and didn't find my answer, but I did come up with more questions...

I am about to buy a 2003 or 2004 C2 Coupe, got my eye on a 2003 in particular. I asked one of my local Porsche dealers, and they said there was no official hands free kit available on the 996, that Porsche added it for the 997 in 2005.

This car will be my every day driver, and I would like to invest in a good permanent solution. My current phone, and any phone I'd buy in the future, is Bluetooth compatible, so I would prefer to use that for hooking up, but I'm open to hard wire connections. I'd also prefer integration into the stereo, so it will turn off the music when I make or receive a call. Antenna amplification would be great, but not required.

What are my options? Is there an official system I can look into? If not, what is out there for 3rd party options? I searched the internet and this forum, and I'm not finding a good place to start my education.

Flame away if I'm just inept at searching, but please include a link to what I missed!

In a couple posts about what I THINK is the Porsche system (Porsche Communications Management?), I see people talking about MOST, and that it is for the 2003 and 2004 models. What is MOST?

MOST is the fiber optic network that is used in 2003+ cars and intergrates the audio system into it. '03+ cars no longer have radio codes for anti-theft since the systems are linked into the car. If you replace your radio with another OEM unit on a MOST car, the dealer will need to pair it up to the vehicle again.

Wow.

Ok, so there is no official Porsche option? The 40th Anniversary Edition appears to have an option installed, and that's a 2004 996, so clearly they CAN do it... Is it just not possible to get that installed later?

What about taking a 997 option and adding it to a 2003/2004 996?

I hard-wired a Parrot CK3100 in my non-Nav 02 C4S. It's plug-and-play in terms of the harness behind the Becker CDR-220.

Go bluetooth! Even the 997 factory option isn't Bluetooth; it's a sim card system and pretty much a waste of time. Porsche is notoriously late to the party with these types of technologies. My system is pretty fully integrated into the audio system; when I get or make a call, the radio/cd mutes and displays "phone" and the right front door speaker is active to hear the caller.
