Interstate MTP91
Hi:
Cold waether, time for new battery. I searched the various thread and think I might get an Interstate MTP 91 battery (no track so no real need for gel). Question is the dealer selling it tells me I do not need a venting tube as it is sealed. This seems contrary to some of the posts. I know nothing about batteries. Can someone help? Thanks. |
You all know I meant "weather"!

There is a vent tube on the battery. I believe it exhausts the battery vapors to the outside so they don't enter the cabin. Really easy to find a battery with a vent tube. I bought one at Costco recently, which seems to be the same as ones sold under a bunch of brand names for about $56. I bought a lighter plug 9 volt battery maintainer for $10. Very easy to change the battery.

I have an MTP-91 and it has the vent tube.

I also have an MTP-91. Good choice...no problems

I think the vent connector is hidden under the edge of the top battery label.

Thanks guys.
Confirms that you should never trust people that are not familiar with our cars. FYI, I found the following link that was very useful. Just thought I would post in case anyone has issues and searches this thread. http://www.industryfigure.com/berkel...he/battery.htm |
ML,
I have the same battery and can confirm that it has a vent port. I called Interstate and they sent the correct rubber tube for free. Andreas |
