I am always curious why the 997 with the 3.6 motor is that much faster than the 996. The 997 gets 5 more horsepower but also weighs slightly more. Aren't the gear ratios the same too?

well... if your comparing it to a 99 it's not that much fast at all... .in fact in gear accel is the same... my friend has one with light weight rims and we were dead even in strait line trials for the whole afternoon... 997 isn't faster than 996C2

actually no.... and I should have mentioned that... my bad...

my 99 had the GIAC flash only & K&N flat panel filter... but on the flipside he had lightweight champion 19" wheels but his engine was stock.

I'm just glad to see that my car can clock in below 5 sec in 0-60 accelerations...not that I would want to try launching it like those press guys!
