Default 996 at Daytona

Here's a short video of my stock C 996 chasing an 993 RSCS through the infield at Daytona a couple of weeks ago. It was great fun. Winter sucks!

Did you get him? It looked like you were pulling him on the banking.

Not this time. Phil and I are 5-5 over the last two years. I qualified first but he beat me into the first corner. I think I could have passed him before the end of the race but it was called 7 laps into the 15 lap race when the yellow Cayman you see in the video lost it in the kink and ended up nearly on top of a tire wall.

Unfortunately Phil's co-driver wrecked his incredibly beautiful 993 the next day in the enduo.

I have a pretty good in-car video of the fastest stock C lap of the weekend if anyone is interested and someone can host the video. It's about 15 meg although I could make it smaller.

You really caught up to him on the banks. Was this the draft effect?

Eric,
I have the same video from 5 or 6 laps and this is the only one where I pull him that much at that point. I did get a big pull on both of the long banked corner/straights but not enough to get by. You can't believe how rough the banking is. The cars look smooth but inside you're bouncing all over. You can really see it in the incar video. I'll try to find a place to post it.

Moot,
I'd love to come west and you know how much I love Caymans! This year we went east three times. Sebring, Mid-Ohio and Daytona. Next year we're talking about going west but I'm not sure they're going to have a race at Laguna. That would be the best. I'd also love to do the new 24 corner track in Utah.
