great points across the board and no slash and runs on me being a nubile rennlister. you guys feelin' OK!
Seriously, My DD is a toy Sequoia, so hoppin in the P car is a pleasure.
Wife has a '06 FX35, kinda cool - same driving exp. as say the maxima / g35 just taller. Fun car though.
My lean as of now is the Lotus, just cause I can get in low$ out of pocket and have a real fun car. I will shoot for 50% daily driving in it as a true test. Will also try to get some track time to see it's capab. If it fails, I will be back. Heck, I will probably be back in 2 or 3 years anyway, if not sooner.
Man, saw the 997 tt in the showroom while diggin in on the Cayman. Holy crap what a car. Killer!
My problem may be not enough seat time in the P car and/or need for therapy as was stated.
Thanks again to all.

There is one major reason why I would never buy a Elise, SAFETY!!!

Just think of James Dean and his demise.

The 996 is a tank compared to the Elise.

What are you doing with the car? The elise is not for daily driving for sure!

IMHO both cars are a step down from what you're in now. Go for some mods -- PSE, SSK, RoW M030, it will feel like a new car again.

WITH THE QUALITY OF BUILD, PERFORMANCE, AND DRIVABLILTY, I THINK THE LOTUS IS A STEP DOWN TOO. I WAS A BIG ITALIAN ENTHUSIAST WHEN I WAS YOUNGER ( AND POORER ) FIATS, LANCIAS, ALFAS....... UNTIL I COULD AFFORD A PORSCHE. NOW THERE IS NO GOING BACK. TOO MUCH QUALITY AND RELIABILITY IN A P-CAR. IF MONEY IS THE SERIOUS CONSIDERATION LOOK AT A VETTE. GMAC FINANCING WILL REALLY WORK WITH YOU.

Do you need a back seat?...Seems like you would prefer to stay in a Cab....

Why not consider a Boxster S...bump in HP to 295 gives it 5.2 0-60 time...virtually the same (in the real world) as the 997 cab (0-60 5.0)...and arguably better handling.

Lightly optioned '07 Boxster S can be had in the very low 50's and it is a lot of bang for the buck.
