Agreed, no instructions needed. I simply showed the guy at the muffler shop the first pic in post #23 above and he did the rest. When I went to pick up the mufflers, I asked him if he had many requests to modify Porsche mufflers. His reply was "Oh, we were wondering what kind of mufflers those were."

And he was thinking, "Damn! I should've charged him another 100 bucks if I knew that was for a Porsche!"

Yep. Just tell them it's for a Civic...but make sure he makes the welds good. Just cause it's for a Civic, it doesn't mean that he could get sloppy.

I will be doing this mod on my car this spring, I was just a bit concerned about long term reliability. Do you think those welds will rust and break, have any of you guys heard/had any problems with that?

I have not heard of any problems with the welds. I would think if the person doing the welds is skilled, there shouldn't be a problem.

It's just a weld on a stainless pipe, not titanium. A competent welder would do fine. I had mine TIG welded since it's SS. It's no different than welding a regular pipe for a Honda... they're all made of metal, Porsche or not.

Do the "real" PSE give a hp increase even if not substantial? If it does, I suppose the increase is not due to the air flow created by this 2" pipe mod but rather something different internally within the mufflers. Wouldn't that suggest the PSE is not really the same as a modded exhaust as some claim? Please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area and thanks for educating me.

I have the "real" PSE on my C2. Porsche claims no increase and I did not notice any difference when I made the change.

There is no difference in this mod and the PSE you get from the factory providing you use the same size pipe.

Thanks for the responses. For some reason, I thought there was a hp increase with PSE.

For any exhaust system, there is very few hp that can be had since most factory setups are efficient already. If the Porsche Sport Exhaust didn't have the P word, would it still have hp increase?

Tim, I only turn them "off" when I am at a stoplight by a police officer, or when I am doing a long distance highway drive (I disabled the high speed automatic cut-out).

It is a big difference with them "off" vs. "on", but I do love to hear that flat 6 sing!!
