I read somewhere on this board recently that they are not, in fact, hollow. It's a look thing. They're actually quite heavy. The writer quoted weights, which made me think that he knew whereof he spoke. FWIW.

i have hollow turbo twist 1s, and also 17" boxster wheels, the TT1s weigh about half of the boxster wheels, pretty amazing... also makes it easy to lug up and down stairs!

I believe for the 996tt it was hollow.
As with the hollow turbo twist I (993tt), are the backs of the spokes of the hollow turbo twist II (996tt) "smooth" also?

The regular Carrara had a Turbo-look wheel option there were non-hollow wheels. The early first year (2001) 996 turbos had solid/non-hollow wheels. They switched to hollow spokes about the same time the removed the bumperettes from the front bumpers. Spotting the non-hollow wheels was easy on these cars. The hollow spoke wheels had metal valve stems while they were black rubber on the non-hollow wheels. You can also tell by feeling the back of the spokes. Hollow wheels will be smooth, non-hollows have groves cut in the back side of the spokes.
