996 for $20K??

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...061&aff=boston

100K miles but.....like everyone always says, IF it checks out......

I just have never seen a 996 hit this low unless it was salvage.

Anyone daring enough to take a closer look?

absolutely NO affiliation!

99firehawk 09-08-2006 12:35 AM

sounds like a good deal

justinmm2 09-08-2006 12:44 AM

God, I hope not. But it *might* just be the real deal, even if I don't want it to be (as a 996 owner). But I'm a little skeptical. '99s with 80k and up still fetch >$25k... at least, the one or two I've seen..

99firehawk 09-08-2006 12:57 AM

could have been hit or could be a lil rough or it oculd have a leaking rms and eevryones afraind of it..........................

im gonna call them on it tomorrow

lowside67 09-08-2006 03:08 AM

$23,995 is a far cry from $20k, but that's the highest mileage 996 I've ever seen!

EricGT3 09-08-2006 03:15 AM

Can you say "track car"? Sounds like a steal if it checks out.

ZX9RCAM 09-08-2006 09:30 AM

I paid $26,500 for my 99 with 55k on it almost a year ago....... :D

lowside67 09-08-2006 03:26 PM

Yeah, I paid $28,500 for my 99 Cabrio with 55k on it 9 months ago.

If you can't negotiate $4k off a used car lot, you have problems. I calle dht eguy, still available. Stopping in to check it out later today.

If it's in good shape... Sounds like a good car that someone really loved driving!

That's a bit of an assumptive statement - you wont be getting $4k off of any $23,995 cars on my lot - any dealer who can drop 20% off their price has got an awfully big margin built into their prices. I price my cars realistically and they sell for usually within $1500 of their asking prices. So while it's great you negotiated him down $4000, keep in mind I'd be asking $21,995 for that car. Same difference.

Who cares if it has a leaking RMS? Turn it into a track car, talk him down to 22K and drop 6k on a brand new crate motor. You have a motor with 0 miles on it for 28k. Not bad if you ask me.

On another note, it is encouraging that these 3.4's can last 107K. I dont feel so bad that mine just turned 60k....

aben8057 09-08-2006 05:34 PM

gut out the interior and track the biotch...

signal 09-08-2006 05:38 PM

New crate motor is 6k? Whats it cost after its fully installed? I thought engine replacement was more along the lines of 12-15k
