Default Cost to Install my new exhaust?

I am waiting on my new FABSPEED exhaust from VIVID. Its a 2001 C4. I was quoted by the local dealer whose shop rate is $90/ hr, $400 plus tax. Sounds high! Any thoughts if this is on the $$$ or out in left field would be appreciated. The local independent shop I used to go to for my previous cars, German Motor Cars, has closed their doors. I have not been able to find a quality Indy shop to go to for competive pricing.

it will only cost you some dirty fingers if you do it yourself! It is super easy, just a little dirty.....it help to take your rear bumper cover off for easier access.....

If you do NOT want to DIY the cans then you shold not pay more than $100 anywhere. This is a less than an hour job for cans only and that is an amateur install........a professional could do it in 1.2 hour.

Your dealer is ripping you off. I had my dealer install my cans since it was already in there for work and we agreed 1hr of labor ($100/hr) was fair.

Queencity,
I too tried the local Cincinnati dealers and got unbelievably high estimates from them. They both quoted two to four hours to install. After reading the posts here, I decided to do it myself. I'm glad I did, the install was pretty easy even using jackstands to lift the car. It took me about 5 hours total to do the Fabspeeds, oil change, spacers, and the EVO intake. I also took the time to look around under the car to see what I might be able to do in the future. If you think you might need some instructions do a search here or on renntech for a PSE install. You can use the instructions for the removal and install of the cans.
Any questions feel free to ask.

For $400 I would fly there, put the exhaust on, have some beers, and then drive your car! That is rediculous. The Exhaust takes on a lift maybe 1 hour unless you have some stubborn bolts. $150 is a good estimate. Alan C is a good guy, hit him up

Mine was $150, which ended up being a good deal since it took them longer to then the estimate said.

Do it yourself: free. Only trick is you can't do it with ramps, you need to use a floor jack and remove remove the wheels. The stock mufflers will slide out from inside the wheel wells. Just did it, not difficult at all and can easily be done in under an hour.

Yup. You'll be fine as long as you remove the rear wheels.
