My C4S is on the boat!
Hi guys,
Got a call today from my dealer. My C4S is officially on the boat as of 3/27. According to the boat schedule, it should reach the San Diego port on 4/18. Would it be safe to assume that it will be at My Porsche (Monterey) by 4/22?
As of today, the list of parts that have accumulated in my garage are as follows:
Clear sidelights
bumper plugs
door plugs
Becart license frame
RUF pedal set
Valentine One (to be hard-wired)
silver crested leather airbag
Arctic Silver painted instrument bezels
OEM Carbon dash trim kit
Euro M030 Suspension
Turbo chin spoiler
Porsche first aid kit
Silvervision bulbs front/rear
I must say that my fiance has been a good sport throughout this. Lately I've been eating sleeping drinking breathing my C4S....

No,not safe to assume. In fact, when Porsche gets involved in logistics nothing seems to be safe to assume. Now, it would be safe to assume within two weeks. Any sooner than that is luck. Also, don't expect Porsche to be able to give you even the most basic tracking info. They can't...

Allart,
That's what I found out. I know that through BMW, you can track your car through various stages of production. Since San Diego is about 400 miles from Monterey, I'm hoping it won't take more than a week to get my car.
Don, here's the list of options I went with:
Arctic Silver with black leather interior
Heated front seats
Lumbar support left and right
Bose High End w/ 6 cd changer
Self dim mirrors
Xenon's
Stainless exhaust pipes
Carbon door sills
Aluminum instrument dials
Carbon/leather steering wheel
Crests in headrests
Brake/shifter in carbon/aluminum

I'm curious about a couple things:
1) why the turbo front spoiler? porsche has engineered the aero in these cars very specifically to generate a bit more front end lift at speed for safe handling (i was recently reading about this in frere's book).
2) I didn't think there was such a thing as a euro m030 for the C4s. has this changed? what's the spec?
Thanks,
Scott.

The Turbo front spoiler is purely for aesthetic reasons. I don't like the indention that the C4S's chin spoiler has in the middle.
As far as the suspension goes, the euro M030 suspension lowers the car 20mm in the front and 10mm in the rear. I purchased mine through Carnewal.com.

My C4S is also on the boat (a different boat) - or at least it will be following a shipping delay because of bad weather. Can't believe I have to wait another week for delivery.
At lease I have met my car in the metal and driven it 1,666 kms. I went to Stuggart and picked the car up at the factory (did the simply amazing factory tour) and then drove the car back through Germany (Black Forest region), northern France to the UK. The car is now in Florida (transit from Southampton to Jacksonville) and next week, weather permitting, will ship from Tampa to the Cayman Islands.
Handing the car back after just a week was like parting with a child. Just can't wait to drive it again and make sure the car has arrived unmolested from transport.
My car:
2003 996 C4S
Polar Silver
Black Leather
Carbon Fibre - Door Handles, Steering Wheel trim, rear centre console, hand break and gear shift.
Aluminium - all **** on door handles, hand brake and gear shift, divide between top and bottom of dash board, trim in air.con vents and instrument dials.
PCM
PCCB Ceramic Brakes
Sports Exhaust (worth every penny, the car sounds absolutly amazing with it)
Yellow seat belts (to match the brakes of course)
The Polar Silver looks fantastic in a climate with lots of sunshine.

Do you know what port your cars will be coming into in San Diego. Because I live down here and I could take a picture of your cars and e-mail them to you or I could drive the C4S up to you YEA RIGHT. The VW come in about 4 miles from my house and if it is the same port it is just down the highway. Hopefully it will not be raining on 4/18 because right now it is poring down here.

Dbelleperc,
Go ahead and take a test spin in my C4S and report if everything is in order
I don't know any specifics other than that the ship Maersk Taiyo is scheduled to arrive on the 18th.
If you could manage to get pictures that would be fantastic! However I understand that she carries over 4,000 cars so that may be a little difficult. I certainly appreciate the offer though!

Vysie, the Cayman Islands are special. I got married there nearly 8 years ago and have been there a total of 9 times since. Every vacation we go somewhere other than Grand Cayman, my son asks me "do they have Rum Point"? I was VERY upset when the Blue Parrot got destroyed last year!
The fact that you'll have a C4S down there makes me salivate!! Enjoy!
