Lift Installed, Thanks for all the ideas.
Well, I finally completed my lift project and figured I would share some pictures. I have always wanted a lift, but since I do not have more than 8' of ceiling height and I am not moving anytime soon I had held off. So attached is my solution. It is a Bend-Pak mid rise lift. I recessed it because now that I am hooked on DE's and will be lowering the suspension I would not have been able to clear it. Thanks to everyone who I got ideas from on this forum. It is a great resource.

Very cool! Is it adjustable? Does it hit the right jack points? How long can you leave it in the air? Cost?
Bolted down?
Bolted down?

Info attached below. Model MD-6XP. It is not bolted down, it is totally portable, Fully adjustable and can hit just about any jack points. It lifts up to about 48" high. It has about 7 safety stops so it can be left in the air indefinetly with no pressure on the cylinders. Really a nice simple design. I would be happy to answer any other questions. Thanks.

I bought a Rotary mid rise lift and love it. Projects I used to put off doing I don't worry about anymore. Wheel changes, brake flush and pad changes are a snap.

Yea where did you get that??
It is awesome!! How did you modify your garage floor to accept the unit? Did you dimension the cutout in such away that it doesnt require fixing to the floor?
New idea for the new house

Guys,
I bought the lift from Automotive Service Equipment, http://www.asedeals.com/mid_rise_lifts.html.
I got the exact dimensions of the lift by talking to them and made the cutout in the floor about 1 inch larger on each side. It fits perfect and no need to bolt anything down. I used a diamond saw to make the cutout, then I broke up the concrete and dug it out to about 18" deep. Then I filled the hole with concrete and left a 5" depression to fit the lift in. Now when the lift is lowered it is flush to the floor.

Actually, my house sits on the side of a mountain and 18" down is solid rock. I used 5000 psi concrete so I did not need to add rebar. 13" of solid concrete sitting on rock. Otherwise I would recommend going deeper and perhaps using rebar.

WOW!
Greg.....NO NO NO.
You can't possibly do this to me! OMG! That has to be the coolest thing I have ever seen in a private home. It is absolutely fantastic and I am beyond envious at how easy your maintenance will be now.
The question now is how the heck am I going to arrange to install one of these contraptions. Between you and Dell, I have mods and mods for mods lined up into 2007.
Seriously, that is one spectacular installation. Kudos to you. I can already see your friends lining up on weekends for their 'maintenance intervals'.

Hi,
This is just great !!!
Just a doubt, how easy it is to access the middle of the car.
Can you crawl in between to access these areas?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

A few questions about your install
What happens in the little recess in the floor when it gets wet? Does it have a drain? How do you supply power (or is it air) to the lift?
