Default GT5 SIL Stag Wheels?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/19-PO...QQcmdZViewItem

Anyone know anything about these? These look great but the price makes me think they may be suspect....

Any problems with an 01 C2 Cab, factory setup?

Anyone have these?

The rear whels look like they extend past the fender. A 52mm offset on a 10.5" wheel will extend approximately 19mm (3/4") more than a 10" wheel with a 65mm offset (which is stock).

Paul - Was that Tim Wassmer who has those wheels?

Those wheels look suspiciously similar to the wheels in this thread.

If so the offset is all wrong.....run away IMHO.

Thanks for the info guys! In looking at that previous thread, it looks like the offset may be wrong and will stick out on a narrow body. But now I am totally confused as to what I need! LOL

BB - On a 10" wide wheel, going from a 65mm offset to a 52 will extend the wheel 13mm, which is tolerable. The problem is that these wheels are 10.5" wide with a 52mm offset.

This ADDS another 12mm in total width to the wheel, with 6mm on the inside (toward the engine) of the wheel and 6mm on the outside (toward the street) of the wheel. That additional 6mm plus the original 13mm (65 minus 52) gives you the 19mm additional extension toward the street.

Compounding the issue is that these are 19" wheels, which minimizes the fender clearence. You are almost guatanteed to get rubbing of some kind with these tires.

CHeck out the link below which is a wheel offset calculator. Play a few "what if..." scenarios on different widths and offsets. Hope this helps.

If you are still uncertain what size wheel and offset you need, just ask! We're here to help. Remember, asking here is a hell of a lot cheaper than making the wrong purchase, as indicated by the thread that Ray S posted above.

Great information Gota! To use that calculator, I need the original specs of the factory setup. Do you know what it is? And what does the outer postion need to be within to be even with the fender? Sorry, I'm not an engineer....

I see you're in Concord....Charlotte here. Can't wait to drop the top and head to the twistys in the mountains! Let me know if you want to join me sometime....

Thanks!

BB - Do you currently have OEM wheels on your car? If so you can get the width and offset from the wheels. They are the numbers on either side of the air stem. Mt front wheels are 8 & 50 meaning that they are 8" wide with 50mm offset. The rears are 10 & 65, which are 10" wide with 65mm offset.

You can actually measure the amount of clearance between the top of your current rear wheels and the inside of the fender. Remember that your rear wheels will have some negative camber so the top of the wheel will be farther away from the fender than the bottom of the wheel. You should have about a 4 or 5 mm "lip" inside the fender where the fender was rolled under. So when calculating your clearance, just allow for the inside of the fender, not the outside. Let me know if this does not make any sense.

Gota, yes, the car I am getting has the OEM 18" Sport Designs. I will check the numbers when I get it next week (it's at Ron Shue Imports, so you may have seen it). Guess I'll have to buy a new ruler to measure the mm's...

Thanks for the info! I'm sure I'll have more questions when I get it early next week (pending PPI!)..

You car welcome! BTW, the Sport Design wheels on the car are better looking than the Stag wheels you are considering, IMO.

I have heard it both ways, but I guess maybe they will grow on me once I get it. We'll see....but I do like the more aggressive look.
