X74 Suspension
Who knows what about this. I was planning on putting H&R coilovers and GT3 sway bars on the new car, but I am tending now on a few items to factory knows best. This would lead me to a ROW 030 which is a little tamer than I want. The new X74 sounds like the way to go, but all I have heard is that it is very stiff and is 20mm lower than the ROW 030. Height is not an issue for me, my Boxtser is 40-50mm lower than normal US spec, courtesey of H&R and I plan to do most of my mile on the track, so what does anyone know?

The X74 is lowers ROW cars 30 mm. However, the components are not available as a retrofit. It can only be had as a factory installed option but not for US cars.

Last I checked with Gert, he told me that Porsche doesn't want to sell the parts because this option includes some chassis stiffening at the factory. Apparently, this is necessary to prevent body damage due to the overly stiff nature of the X74 components. As such, they would only sell these parts to those who have already bought a car with the X74 option. I am not sure if anything has changed in the past weeks.

Typical PAG stupidity! I guess they yould prefer me to install an non Porsche suspesnion that is just as stiff. I am not as worried as my C2 is a coupe and has no sunroof and will be getting a full cage, but my boxtser, which has a very stiff H&R suspension is tweaked now. The front hood does non close easy and the seam are not perfectly aligned anymore. No where near as bad as my dakota, which the front end was tweaked about a 1/2" off by the time I got rid of it. Although that was more due to HP than suspesnion. My other option is find someone with an X74 VIN that would let me ride it.... any takers?

For that, you'd have to travel outside North America.

VIN numbers are simply information... easily transferred across international borders. I'm sure PAG might raise an eyebrow if we ordered a complete suspension for a brand new car though. Too bad everything is such a battle.

ROW Std 0mm
ROW 030 -10mm
ROW X74 -30mm
Its 20mm lower than normal ROW sport.
Send off a few emails to dealers in Europe to see if anyone can get it... worth a shot. <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />
