Default Aero Body kits

OK, I need some input. I want to upgrade the looks of my MY'99 996 Cab with an aero kit. I wouldnt mind the turbo look bumper panel either but I would prefer to come as close to OEM looking as possible, but yet I cant do the OEM for the money. My problem is knowing what is crap and what is not. Fiberglass or Poly? Which manufacturer is decent and which is going to cost more when I take it to the body shop? Those are the typical questions that I am up against.

I would like to get the GT3 looking bumper, rockers and the Cab rear spoiler. And I have received quotes that range from $4200 to $1900.

Any help would be appreciated from those with the similiar experiences.

Go OEM shop around you'll find good prices. The extra money you spend in OEM you will save compared to all the prep work aftermarket will need and even then the fitament will be better on the OEM. Front bumber and skirts should be available OEM under 2500.

I run MaShaw parts and they fit perfect. Copied from OEM molds. Great finish too. Check them out here -

Check with Brandywine Porsche in PA. Their ad in the latest Excellence magazine(page 125) has OEM side skirts (Mk I and Mk II) for $599.

Hi gota911,

Which edition of Excellence would that be? I have the June 2006 issue right in front of me and on pg 125 is an add from bwmotorsports (not Brandywine Porsche) and their OEM side skirts are $725 a pair. I ask because I'm about to pull the trigger on this mod...

Thanks!

Mduff - I got all those pieces for my 2001 from Departstop. They paint to your factory color and then ship it to you. You then have the choice to take it somewhere to install, but I just did it myself. Its not very hard to do.

OEM GT3 bumper and sideskirt - replica carrera wing. All for much cheaper than you listed above. Take a peek at the final product!

That was in the May 2006 issue. I checked the book store last night and the June edition was not available yet. You might want to call Brandywine Porsche anyway to see if you can still get the $599 price. Just mention that you saw it in the May issue of Excellence. It's worth a shot!

wlee is right on. OEM Front and sides is the way to go. Cost is very good that he got and like others have said.....aftermarket is CRAP. You will spend uch more $$$ in the prep and paint on those pieces. Not to mention the factory stuff is poly and the aftermarket is fiberglass

Hey Thanks gota911!!! I'm going to give them a call today over lunch.

Okay, Excellence mailing department sucks. Last time Dell was complaining about not receiving an issue before the bookstores, I got my issue delivered two weeks after him. Now, I'm getting the the June issue ahead of bookstores?

You know one that really annoys me is following someone who varries their speed +/- 15mph for no apparent reason. Excellence mag delivery is about the same.

Anyway, I'm going to go trade in my current cup full for some decaf...

mduff,

Ebay is your firend. If you're patient you'll find all the aero pieces you need at very attractive prices.
There is a aero front bumper on now that the seller has listed as a regular 99-01 bumper. No bids as of last night, minimum bid is $50. It has a small crack but at the right price get it fixed while it's being painted.

Cheers,
Stan
