How to change 'Carrera' badge for chrome '911'?
I'm thinking about changing my black Carrera badge for a nice chrome '911' badge - a replica of that used on the millennium 996's - it'll look sweet on the back of my black cab.
Can't seem to see how the existing badge is fitted without removing it - by which time it might be too late. Anyone familiar with what lies beneath?

Glue, it's glued on. You can get it off with dental floss. You have to work it back and forth slowly until it cuts through the glue. I have never personally done this, so check with the dealership. I'm sure they've had to replace many badges due to breakage. It would probably help to leave the car out in the sun for a while before you try. Then you need to use something like 3M adhesive remover (only use the stuff made for car exteriors) to get whats left on the paint off. The new one glues back on.

Yes exactly, double sided tape. I told you I never tried it myself. I know a few people with Boxsters that removed their badges. ("We don't need no stinkin' badges" ...Blazing Saddles 1975?)

My cab is triple black and I changed the black Carrera logo with the titanium Carrera logo from a C4. After I bought the car my wife said, "it looks like someone painted the car and forgot to remove the Carrera badge before painting the car." That day I called and ordered a new titanium one! Anyways, wash the area first (you don't want to scratch the paint) and use a blow dryer on the badge to heat the adhesive tape. It will come right off. Any tape that doesn't come off initially can be warmed up and removed very easily. Make sure you mark the centerline or the edges of the original Carrera logo with tape both horizontally and vertically because you only get one chance with the new emblem.

Homemark: not to be **** , but the picture of the badge you posted belongs to the 1994 964 C4 Turbo Look 30 year anniversary model. The Millenium Edition for the 996 models is completely different.
