Porsche's PCM/Navigation System?
Could someone provide feedback on Porsche's PCM/Navigation System? Does anyone regret getting it or not getting it? How does it compare to other units? Is the system worth the $3-4K price? Thanks.

slow, data base is poor, difficult interface, not able to turn off the Radio?cd and still have Nav...
Only Plus: Duplicates the OBC and AC controls.
I would get it IF you want NAV and an Factory original car, i.e. not Modified.

I've driven my PSM-equipped '99 across country twice (Seattle-Boston-Orlando-Seattle, Seattle-Phoenix-Vegas-Billings-Seattle). I have no regrets with mine.
I very much enjoyed the system, and it works great. I wouldn't call the database poor; I found a few problems in one city (Charlotte, if I recall correctly), and thought it was a fantastic aid. It's a real plus in unfamiliar cities, and can even be helpful finding specific locations in your hometown.
The system does run a little slower than the newest models, but that kind of obsolesence is unavoidable unless you want to upgrade every two years. Still, I can compute a route through two states in less than 20 seconds.
The PSM's computer doesn't duplicate it the OBC. The features offered by the PSM are a superset of the OBC.
