spacer for standard 18inch wheels
I would like to add spacers to fill out the car. Also, I would like to know what size would be the right size. I have a standard setup with 18inch wheels.
TIA
Also, what is the benefit of running wider track and would this have any negative effect on the car.

There are a number of spacers on the market. Porsche makes a "street" set that add 5mm all the way around. These were standard on GT3's with 18" wheels. Gert at Carnwal.com sells the Porsche kit with new (longer) bolts and locking bolts for about $250. I've heard of folks putting these just on the front to reduce a little of the understeer.
Porsche also made a number of different spacers available for racing and I think you can get these through Porsche Motorsports or a tuner that races.
H&R as well as a few others make spacers also. I think the folks at Wheel Enhancement can give you good advice and prices on those.
Handling - Should improve to a point. Certainly not as big effect as lowering and larger sway bars. Is it a handling and balance you are looking for or do you just want to fill out the wheelwells better? At some point you will also need to roll the rear fenders to prevent rubbing.
Unless I was tracking the car a lot I think I would go for the 5mm... just my 2 cents.

Hi Bloke,
I have spacers on my cab. Check it out:

You should be able to use 23mm spacers (rear) for you 18" wheels. No negative effects so far.

I think the stock 18 rims measures 18by10 rear and 18by7.5 for the front. Without spacers you could just add 285 rears and change the front 2 rims from 7.5 to 8 to offset the understeer. I imagine with spacers probably be much cheaper to go thru that route then buying new rims. Regards. Mike
