Work in Progress
Got the turbo bumper painted along with the seat backs. Have to wait for new heat shields and then we're a go for the turbo rear bumper install!

Very nice man. I am looking at buying a silver GT3 right now, and I was upset that it didn't have 1 option PAINTED SEAT BACKS. So I started wondering if they could be done at a shop or somthing. Well you just confirmed that this CAN be done . So my questions are, how much did it cost you?? What kind of shop did you get it done at (dealer or independent)?? Did they match the exterior or is it just a metalic silver??
Thank you very much,
Evan K.

AMG, I don't have the price yet, but I will let you know. I'll also dig outthe instructions for removing the leather so it can be painted. I assume you have the factory sport seats (not the shells).

I am working on selling my car, I believe it is sold(I will know tom.). I have just found a GT3 at port for sticker, but am not sure if I am getting it yet, I was just interested in the details of what you did, incase I do get it, because that is one thing I would deff. like to do to it. Did the dealer paint them or independent shop or did you do it?? Those instructions would be great.
Thanks for the info,
Evan

Andy, I'm going strictly for the Euro look. I'm also one of these old fashioned patriot guys, so I'm putting an American Flag emblem on the space just to the right of the license plate. It may look "tacky" to some, but I've had an American Flag on every car I've owned since 1950 and I can't stop now!

Stem, no it's on Thornton Drive off Independence Way. It's the same road that Shepley Wood Products is on. There's a lot of auto places on Thornton. There's Hyannisport Restoration; New England Auto Polishing, etc.etd. No. 138. It's worth a trip over. Dave will let you look around. He's doing some neat stuff for a small shop. Very fussy....which is good!

AMG, these are the factory sport seats I'm talking about obviously before painting, and here are the instructions for removing the leather etc. for painting. I had a shop do mine.

1. Remove leather from plastic sport back.Start at the bottom corner towards door sill.(pulls out without any tools). This will take only the outside of the leather off.
2.Remove the foam horseshoe.
3.With the foam removed. You can see the leather clips that hold the leather from the inside now.Remove the leather section.
4.Remove the center section. It has 2 clips on the bottom that clip over 1 of the steel support bars in the seat. The top is held on with 3 leather clips.
5. Remove the 2 plastic ***** on the seat that allow it to fold.
6.Remove 4 screws that hold the plastic back to the metal frame.
7.Remove plastic seat back.
8.Remove map pocket.

Well, it's clearcoated for a start. Our kids are 42, 40, 37...but the 2 grandkids will have to go barefoot when they visit!

Gery:
I've got painted seat backs on my sport seats (paint to match: slate grey) and I find that they wear better than leather backs, at least with my small sample size of 9,7, and 2 year old kids feet...
