Post Bra Question

Does Porsche make a bra for the 2002 996? Does anyone have any photos of what they look like? Thanks.

If you need a bra...get a clear bra. The normal bras scratch paint and are very bad IMHO.

I agree totally. I got 'Stongard' not too long ago and love it! It's almost invisible. I have to point it out to friends before they notice it's there. It gives total protection from rocks, etc. Also, a regular bra does scratch and worse, if it gets wet, you can't leave it on there or it will ruin the paint!

I have pics of before and after.

This is before:

And a few after. The first you can't see the line much at all. I had to work w/ the camera to get it to show up in this light.

This one shows it better:

Scott, that certainly isn't the typical leather bra that you attach. It looks like it is a thin film. Two questions: (1) given that it is so thin, how does it protect from rocks (the thick leather brak provides a much larger impact cushion that prevents the rock from chipping the paint) and (2) what happens when you do get rock chips on your bra. Do you just peel it off, and put on another.

Thanks and regards.

Vik,

This is the best thing I could have purchased for my car. Go to www.stongard.com to see more info.

(1). This stuff is tough. It would take a VERY big rock to hurt your car. It's impervious (sp?) to normal size rocks that cause those chips you see. Supposedly, you can shoot a BB gun at it and your car will be fine (with obvious restrictions on power). It's given me peace of mind when I drive and hear stuff hitting my window. I don't worry about what's hitting my bumper and paint.

(2). You don't get chips or anything on the bra itself. It's solid. There is a warranty however. If something happens like it peels or it bubbles or discolors, etc. it's covered. They also guarantee the paint beneath it if something happens to go through it and hurt the paint.

The key is to have a pro put it on. I could have never done it myself! Email me if you want to talk more about it. I love the stuff. The front of my car will look new as long as I own it. The cost is cheaper than repairing stuff in the future too.

BTW -- I have no ties to them or any installer, etc. I'm just very satisfied!

I ordered one for a 2002 from Performance Products. There are two types, the more traditional style that covers the tops of the fenders and one that does not. I went the the one that did not cover the fenders. They offer both the Porsche logo'd Colgan bra and the Colgan bra without the logo. Guess which one is $96.95 and which one is $139.95?

Be patient, however, the last three orders I have placed with Perforance Products were screwed up. They quickly made them right, but it didn't happen the first time around.

I'm with Scott, I had Armourfend installed on my Cab and it gives me great piece of mind that I'm using "protection".

I'm really impressed with Scott's car, mine is polar silver and it's barely visible, his is darker and it's also hardly visible. IMHO, much better that a leatherette bra.

I have no ties as well, just a satisfied customer.
