i used to have an 964....bought it with 104.000 klms and sold it 4 years later with 485.000.
thats 95.250 klms/year.....
then i got a 993 with 65.000 klms and sold it 3 years later with 285.000 klms....
thats 73.000 klms/year.....
now i own a 996 and i am overing almost 45.000 klms/year...
and (may be I was lucky....) there were no unexpected repairs than normal servicing and parts replacement due to mileage such us clutch, shock absorbers, brake pads and rotor etc....

I believe that all of you guys who use your 996 on a daily basis are getting the maximum out of your investment. I see so many guys who pay almost $90K for their 911s, only to see them languish in their garages. It's as though they are getting prepared to sell their cars as soon as they buy them. There's no question that low mileage 996s fetch higher resale prices, but consider how much they had to pay for each mile driven. I believe that some first time Porsche buyers have the mistaken belief that if they only drive their cars for a few thousand miles, that they will be able to sell their cars for nearly as much as they paid for them.

I have the enjoyment of getting into a 911 and driving a minimum of 75 miles each and every day. It just doesn't get much better than then that! I used to do the two car thing when I had a 993, but with the creature comforts of the 996 (real heat and air conditioning) it just seems stupid to take the depreciation hit on a car that sits in the garage. The 993 would only have depreciated about 1k - 2k more had I driven it every day and run up the miles.
