Default Octane Boost ( Denver / Altititude / Ethanol )

So here's the deal. First time I filled up with premium here in Denver, ( 91 octane with ethanol ) I thought I'd got some bad stuff because I noticed performance loss.

Same with second tank from somewhere else - so it dawned on me that perhaps the gas in the tank when I bought it was from Texas where the car was bought at auction.. Hmm.

So.. Should I use an octane booster? As far as I know, 91 octane is all you can get here.. ( Regular is 85! )

If so, anyone got any recommendations?

You can get 93.5 at Parker Rd. and Quincy in AUrora. You can also get higher octane stuff at Duggan Petrolium off Santa Fe and Oxford.

Face it, the gas sux here in the winter (and isn't much better in the summer). But hey lets raise the price .28 last week just for grins.

We only get that crappy 91 here in Vegas as well. FYI....the octance boosters do NOT boost the octance in a manner you woould think. Read carefully.

The guys out here in Vegas that want better than 91 go to one of just a few stations in town that have 100 octance and mix in a few gallons with the 91 to set a 93+ octane.

Tim, have you found a difference? Also, do you know if there is anywhere local that has gas without Ethanol? Don't even know if that is legal though.

Also our cars are slower up here on the hill. I can definatley feel the power loss compared to California.

Yeah - but I'm 100% sure that the gas I had in it when I bought it gave me better performance than the stuff I'm buying now ;-(

First regarding boosters...there is some debate on what they do and if it really works. Most of the stuff you buy in stores is BS and will likely only change the octane by .1 You can search to find several ways to boost octane. In CO it must have ethanol to be sold at the pump. I get 93 from the Curve on 287 North of Longmont (about every other tank). Altitude is why you want the Turbo (greast sell to the wifey).
